Ferrari focused on the long term before Austin

With the probable departure of Fernando Alonso and the successive departures at its management, Scuderia Ferrari is going through an uncertain period. The poor results of the stable Maranello force it to concentrate on the next season even if it must also try to improve the performance of the F14 T to face Williams Racing which leads it by 28 points in the Manufacturers' Championship.

“After having completed Japan and Sochi (Russia), we had three weeks to prepare for the races in the USA (this weekend) and Brazil (November 9)”, recalled Pat Fry, the Scuderia's engineering director. “This extra week has allowed us to work on specific points geared towards the performance of the car, although at this stage of the season the priority is 2015. Our understanding has reached an important level and we have identified areas for improvement in the face of to competition. We have strong objectives on the Power Unit and on aerodynamics. We must succeed in order to be competitive, these are the factory's priorities for the next five months. »

Scuderia Ferrari has not yet won in Austin and it will probably not succeed this year since only Daniel Ricciardo managed to beat the Mercedes so far this season. “There are a lot of fast corners in the first sector with a very long straight, as well as a few slow corners”, added Pat Fry. “The behavior of the tires has been the key factor in the last two races and the performance of the cars in Austin will necessarily depend on it. »
