Ferrari confirms its internal restructuring

In the wake of the Hungarian Grand Prix, where only a 6th place finished the event for Sebastian Vettel, Ferrari had indicated thatan overhaul of the SF1000 project and a possible internal reorganization were in the pipeline to try to get back to the level of the best on the grid.

The Maranello management did not wait long since this Wednesday, the birth of a Performance Development department has been made official, and led by Enrico Cardile, who managed aerodynamics within the Italian team.

The other departments retain their organization, with the engine aspect managed by Enrico Gualtieri, the chassis area by Simone Resta while Laurent Mekies retains his functions as sporting director and head of track activities. A restructuring certainly but which on paper does not seem to be a palace revolution.

“The department headed by Enrico Cardile will be able to count on the experience of Rory Byrne and experienced engineers like David Sanchez, says Mattia Binotto, Head of Sports Management. This will be the cornerstone of the car's development.

We believe that Ferrari personnel are of the highest standard and we have nothing to envy of our main competitors in this regard, but we had to make a decisive change, raising the bar in terms of responsibilities of department heads.

We have said it many times, but it bears repeating: we have begun to lay the foundations for a process that should result in a new cycle of lasting victories. This will take time and we will experience setbacks like the one we are currently experiencing in terms of results and performance. »

Results on the track are now expected in the Italian clan, particularly from the drivers Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc.
