Ferrari in the right direction

The best time achieved by Fernando Alonso certainly gave some cheer to an Italian team well below its expectations in terms of performance since the start of the season. Friday went well for the double world champion and his teammate Kimi Räikkönen, despite an alert on the engine of the latter's F14 T in EL1. “This morning, due to a problem with my car, I wasn't able to drive as much as planned and that's never a good thing, because doing a lot of laps is very important. Thanks to the quick work of the team, we managed to make up for lost time. At the end of the day, my feelings in the car had improved, but I am not yet 100% satisfied with the behavior of my car. I am sure that the analysis of the data collected will take us in the right direction for qualifying and the race. »

For Fernando Alonso, no clouds for the moment over his Canadian weekend and particular attention to the Pirelli tires, which had been widely criticized in Monaco, in particular the super-soft, back in business in Montreal. “I am satisfied because we did a lot of work without encountering any particular problem. We've tested a few different components and now we need to focus on getting a good understanding of how they work. The behavior of the tires is very similar to what we saw in Monaco. Certainly, the supersofts are not like they were in the past and in racing they last a long time. There should therefore be no problems in qualifying or the first stint of the race. »

The third free practice session will begin at 16 p.m. French time and will be followed live on our website.
