After having considered for a time appealing the penalty received by Sebastian Vettel at the Canadian Grand Prix (after a return to the track deemed dangerous against Lewis Hamilton following a passage through the grass), the Team Ferrari opted to request a review of the said penalty with the FIA.
The team will rely on article 14.1.1, which states that "If a significant and relevant new fact which was not available at the time the parties concerned ruled is discovered, whether or not the commissioners have made a decision, those commissioners must (in person or by other means) convene a agreed date for the party(ies) concerned to hear any relevant explanation and to rule in the light of the new facts and elements brought to them. »
It is now up to the commissioners to study the new elements provided by Scuderia Ferrari on a maneuver and a penalty which have already caused a lot of talk, and which should still be mentioned this weekend during the French Grand Prix at Paul Ricard.
