By securing his first podium in Bahrain since the 2013 Korean GP, Kimi Räikkönen has rediscovered his thirst to win that he seemed to have lost last year with the poor performance of the Team Ferrari. The 2007 world champion is considering the possibility of extending his contract which ends at the end of the season.
But Maurizio Arrivabene, Team Principal of Scuderia Ferrari, remains evasive about the Maranello team's plans. “I am happy with the drivers we have but that doesn't mean that I'm going to extend Kimi tomorrow. We were very clear and I repeat: I told Kimi that it depends on his performance…”, insisted the Italian in the paddock of the Bahrain GP. “If you ask me if he deserves to stay right now, I would say 'yes,' but I don't want him to fall asleep. I want to keep him awake. »
Maurizio Arrivabene, on the other hand, brushed aside speculation about the arrival of Lewis Hamilton next to Sebastian Vettel. " Did Lewis say anything to you? Because he never called me…”, joked the Scuderia director.
