Ferrari struggled again in qualifying

With Fernando Alonso first Friday morning, we thought that Scuderia Ferrari would raise its head throughout the rest of the weekend, but once again the F14 Ts of Maranello have not confirmed in qualifying. The double Spanish world champion only ranked 7th and his teammate Kimi Räikkönen 10th, after having done the entire Q3 against the tide of his rivals, completing only one flying lap. “The result reflects the trend we have seen since the start of the season. On Friday we are at the front, on Saturday we suffer a little more. The developments made here in Canada have worked well, the car has progressed but we are not yet able to fully exploit it. »

Often the author of great starts, the former pilot Renault et McLaren admits that the configuration of the Gilles Villeneuve route will probably not help him at the start. “I think the race won't be easy, because it's complicated to overtake at the start here. It's very tight in the first two turns. »

Kimi Räikkönen reminds him that the Canadian track is not the most favorable to the qualities of his car“We knew it wouldn't be easy: it's one of the tracks that least matches the characteristics of our car. Since Friday I have not been completely satisfied with the behavior of my car. On my only run in Q3, with new super-soft tires, my F14T slipped a lot. »

The Canadian Grand Prix will be followed live on our site from 20 p.m. French time.
