Ferrari between disappointment and satisfaction

The race did not really meet the expectations of the Team Ferrari. If the Reds were hoping for a better start to the championship, they must be content with 4th place Fernando Alonso and 7th place (after the Sauber disqualification) of Felipe Massa.

Already greatly disappointed by his qualification, Fernando Alonso trusts Ferrari to resolve the pace problems encountered today. “If you look at the qualifying, it?s not such a bad result, notes the Spaniard. Even though we lost a lot of time on Vetttel and Hamilton, we did better than Webber and Button. Hag seemed today on another planet, but the others were not so far away, not as much as in qualifying. I finished behind Petrov like in Abu Dhabi, but I am satisfied to have kept Webber behind me, I think he will be a more serious rival in the title race than the Russian. We can win the title, but certainly not if we always finish third or fourth. We must progress, we know it. It is still too early to make predictions. »

Ferrari sporting director Stephano Domenicali admits to being disappointed with the results of his troops. But the Italian hopes to immediately bounce back. “There is no denying that we are leaving Australia a disappointment. Our performances were not at the level of the best, especially the Red Bull. Nevertheless, we brought back some valuable points, especially with Fernando who had a good race and made up for his bad start. Massa defended himself well against Button, then suffered from the degradation of his rear tires. We will study why we performed less than expected and react before Malaysia. One of the positive points was the reliability, on the engine and SREC side. »
