Ferrari spoils its Grand Prix in Brazil

The Brazilian GP turned into a station of the cross for Ferrari which saw its two drivers abandon after a collision. While Charles Leclerc had just taken 4th place against Sebastian Vettel during the first restart, the four-time world champion tried to regain his position. The two SF90s collided and saw their weekend come to a sudden end.

After a brief debrief with the team, the drivers remained laconic about their impressions.

“In my opinion, I carried out a clean overtake even if it was aggressive, explained Charles Leclerc. Vettel subsequently tried to regain his place, he fell back on the inside and we touched. It's a shame it ended like this. This is not why I want to have team instructions, these are things that happen in motorsport even if it is regrettable. I would have preferred that gasly wins his podium in another circumstance, I would have liked to share it with him, but I am happy for him. »

Sebastian Vettel adopted the same attitude as his Monegasque teammate, taking care not to openly blame the Monegasque.

“It’s unfortunate because we shouldn’t have had a better race. I came out of the chicane and we touched each other. I don't think there is a need for instructions. We weren't helped by the race interruptions but we should have finished it.", said the German.

Team Principal Mattia Binotto also shares his drivers' disappointment but was keen not to criticize his drivers immediately after the race.

" We are disappointed. We will analyze the videos in detail and discuss them with the pilots. I'm not going to make any decisions on the fly. It's a shame that this kind of thing happens after all the work the team has done. We tried all approaches, we chose to let them fight because 2nd place is acquired, but it's always regrettable when this kind of thing happens.", explained the Italian.

Scuderia Ferrari will still have the Abu Dhabi GP to forget this bad weekend and end the season on a better note. The commissioners did not want to drive the point home and did not sanction the drivers after an investigation.
