Ferrari maintains control in FP3 of the Malaysian GP

The pilots Ferrari remained the fastest in FP3 of the Malaysian GP at Sepang. Kimi Räikkönen set the benchmark time with a lap of the Kuala Lumpur circuit completed in 1'31''880, six tenths of the best time of the day set by his teammate Sebastian Vettel.

The four-time world champion remained at the front, following the Finn by less than two tenths, but the German seemed to have suffered a mechanical problem after returning to the pits in slow motion at the end of the session.

Red Bull remains closest to Ferrari with Daniel Ricciardo which ranks two tenths of the reference. Max Verstappen failed behind the Mercedes de Valtteri Bottas et Lewis Hamilton, but the Dutchman was hit by Jolyon Palmer (Renault), causing a puncture on the RB13. The accident is under investigation by commissioners.

 

Sergio Pérez (Force India) is still ahead of his teammate Esteban Ocon by a little less than a tenth by taking seventh place ahead of the McLaren by Stoffel Vandoorne and Fernando Alonso. Lance stroll hoisted the first Williams in 12th place in front Kevin Magnussen (Haas) and Nico Hulkenberg (renault).

Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso) finished in 16th place, less than three tenths behind his teammate Carlos Sainz Jr. The Frenchman is ahead of Jolyon Palmer, Romain Grosjean (Haas) and the Saubers of Marcus Ericsson and Pascal Wehrlein.
