Ferrari has identified the cause of Vettel's crash

After a thorough investigation, Ferrari ended up finding the origin of the crash of Sebastian Vettel occurred late Wednesday morning at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The four-time world champion was starting his 41st lap at the wheel of the SF90 when he went straight into turn 3 and crashed into the TecPro safety barriers.

No injuries to report, fortunately for Vettel, but the impact was such that it delayed Ferrari's analysis work to understand the causes of the accident and greatly limited the Italian team's running on Wednesday. In fact, we had to wait until the very end of the day to see Charles Leclerc complete an installation tour.

Vettel confided yesterday at midday that he had the feeling of having met “ a problem at the front left » and that he did not have « more control of the car ».

« After extensive checks, we came to the conclusion that Seb's exit from the track was the result of a rim problem., said Ferrari this Thursday. The rim was damaged a few seconds before the accident due to impact with a foreign body ».

The setback forced the Scuderia to review its testing program. While his two drivers were supposed to share the daily workload on all of the second Catalan runs, the Monegasque is on track all day Thursday, which you can follow live commentary via our live-text, and will be relayed by Vettel on Friday.
