Ferrari has completed the installation of its new simulator F1 in dedicated premises on the site of Maranello (Italy), located between the main building of Gestione Sportiva and the Fiorano track.
Tailor-made for the needs of the Scuderia, the new Italian simulator was designed by the British company Dynisma headed by Ashley Warne, a former Ferrari engineer.
The tool is capable of reproducing 360° environments with reduced latency and the widest bandwidth on the market.
« Simulation tools and digital technology are set to play an increasingly dominant role in the development of a car of Formula 1 and we believe we have made the best possible technology choices to make a generational leap in this sector, commented Gianmaria Fulgenzi, head of supply chain at Ferrari.
The project took us two years and we are now ready to use the simulator to develop chassis 674, the code name of the car that will be designed for the 2022 technical regulations ».
The next few weeks will be devoted to calibrating the new simulator before the real work supporting the design of the 2022 Ferrari begins in September.
The simulator used until then will remain in service to advance the current SF21, prepare for the 2021 race weekends, and allow the young shoots of the Ferrari Driver Academy to get their bearings.
