The Miami circuit (Florida) is quite a piece to master. Dominators on their first run of Q3 this Saturday, May 7, the Red Bull had the cards in hand to lock pole position for the Miami Grand Prix. However, these are the Ferrari who stole this privilege from them!

Thanks to a perfect last flying lap, Charles Leclerc et Carlos Sainz Jr both improved their times. But it was the Monegasque, leader of the Championship, who was the fastest by 190 thousandths, a breath! The Spaniard will still be delighted with his performance after an accident in Free Practice 2 and several driving errors in Free Practice 3. Confidence is regained.

The Red Bulls are content with the second row with Max Verstappen 3rd and Sergio Pérez 4th. The outgoing champion tried to increase the pace in his second lap in Q3, but the limit was exceeded:

The great performance of this session is to be put to the benefit of Valtteri Bottas (Alfa Romeo). Despite an accident in Free Practice 1 and an absence in FP2, the Finn climbed to 5th place. French Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) released his best performance of the year with a 7th time.

The nature of this session remained incomprehensible to Mercedes. On the upward slope during free practice on Friday, the Silver Arrows fell heavily. George Russell remained stuck in 12th place and almost lost control of his mount due to excessive leatherwork. As for Lewis Hamilton, he reached Q3 with difficulty and will have a lot to do from 6th place.

Among the “average” mentions, Alpine can't get his head above the water around the fake marina. Even if Fernando Alonso believes he is delivering his best driving in 10 years, the double world champion stops in Q2 (11th). He couldn't even count on the help of his teammate Esteban Ocon, forfeit qualifying due to cracked chassis during his crash in Free Practice 3.

Another disappointment, that suffered by Daniel Ricciardo. While his colleague Lando Norris drives the point home with a new performance, the pilot McLaren cannot find the view that was lent to him at Red Bull and (sometimes) at Renault. The gate is closed by the Williams byAlexander albon et Nicholas latifi.

The Miami Grand Prix will be followed from 21:30 p.m. in live text on AUTOhebdo.fr.
