Ferrari can't get its tires to work

Ferrari is not moving forward. Already struggling since the start of the season in terms of pure performance and race pace, the Team managed to achieve good results by passing between the drops, in particular thanks to Charles Leclerc.

Friday at Spa, nothing seemed to be able to get it off the ground. Charles Leclerc finished the second free practice session fifteenth and Sébastian Hag seventeenth, behind the Alfa Romeo and in the middle of Williams.

The lack of power of the Ferrari engine was felt, but it does not explain everything. “ We're having trouble getting the tires to work." explains Mattia Binotto, the boss of the Scuderia. “We lack grip, both when braking and when accelerating. Drivers complain about general grip. »

The car is therefore capable of going faster. “I think we don't see the potential of the car and it's certainly not the normal position for our drivers, if we compare our position on the grid and the relative competitiveness with the others. »

Binotto clarifies that the pilots have nothing to do with this situation. “ It's the same situation in both cars. It's really how you adjust the machine to find the right window of tire use that counts. »

Ferrari has yet to find the exact problem that is preventing it from making the tires work properly. However, it risks ruining the Italian race.

“If you don't have grip, you're not fast in the second sector and therefore, you're slow in all three sectors. So yes, there is a lot to do to try to resolve this over the rest of the weekend. »

The question is whether Ferrari will fight for Q2 or Q3.
