Ferrari doesn't expect miracles

Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa failed more than a second behind the best time achieved by Michael Schumacher (Mercedes). The F2012 did not perform a miracle today even if Maranello brought developments by taking advantage of the break between Malaysia and China. Pat Fry, the technical director, suggests that there is still a long way to go. “The first impression after these three hours of testing is positive but we still have a lot of work ahead of us. We cannot ignore the fact that the characteristics of this circuit do not suit us less well than in Malaysia. I don't expect to see any improvement in our position on the grid. We are between seventh and 12th place as was the case at Sepang. »

Pat Fry and the entire Scuderia are still banking on an exploit from Fernando Alonso and a revival of Felipe Massa. The small gaps between the teams can work in Ferrari's favor. “We must keep in mind that the gaps are very close”, adds pat Fry. “A single mistake can create a significant change in position. For those who ask me when a Ferrari will be on pole, I can only tell them that there is no magic button. We must work in all sectors starting with aero which remains a decisive factor in F1 to obtain results in the short term but especially in the long term. »
