Ferrari stays on top with Vettel at Abu Dhabi testing

Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) set the fastest lap on the second morning of testing in Abu Dhabi. After Kimi Räikkönen yesterday, it is the turn of his German teammate to be the fastest with a time of 1’37”551.

The four-time world champion improved the previous day's benchmark by more than two tenths but is still more than a second off pole. Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) signed last Saturday. The winner of the last Grand Prix of the season is in third place at midday behind Esteban Ocon (Force India) who has been the most diligent so far with 61 laps covered.

Carlos Sainz Jr. (Renault) and Max Verstappen (Red Bull) complete the provisional top five ahead Kevin Magnussen (Haas). Sergey Sirotkin (Williams) follows in seventh place but could have to give way to Robert Kubica during the day, the Pole having not yet tested the softest tires in the Pirelli range.

Stoffel Vandoorne (McLaren) plays in eighth position, but like his teammate Fernando Alonso yesterday, the Belgian was trapped in the last sector by touching the wall. He is ahead Lando Norris (McLaren) which operates on the second MCL32. Charles Leclerc (Sauber) and Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso) complete the list, the Frenchman having been the most discreet this morning with 23 laps completed.
