Ferrari remains in ambush

Two times, Kimi Räikkönen was the fastest behind the Mercedes lead during the first two free practice sessions of the Malaysian Grand Prix. In the wake of the world champion Lewis Hamilton in EL2, the Finn, however, did not admit to being completely satisfied at the end of this first day on the Sepang track.

“In the morning, the feeling with the car was better, explains the 2007 world champion. The afternoon was a little more complicated, we had some handling problems and some problems with the wind and heat, but the times were not that bad. The car is not perfect yet, but I am sure we can improve for tomorrow. We have some work to do on the settings to make things easier, but we will do our best and see where we end up in qualifying. »

Si Sebastian Vettel had followed his teammate's pace during the morning in Malaysia, the former driver Red Bull experienced a more turbulent second session, including a spin. “It was very hot, and it was very slippery, which didn't make working with the tires easy. I'm not entirely satisfied with myself. I pushed too hard, but it didn't work and I made a mistake. It will be tight between us and Williams, and probably with Red Bull. Mercedes didn't have a perfect day, but remains strong. » The pilots of the Silver Arrows who had, for their part, highlighted the performance of the SF15-T.
