Ferrari regains its rank in Bahrain

Fernando Alonso couldn't have dreamed of a better result for his first race with Ferrari. After two complicated seasons at Renault, the Spanish pilot led his F10 to victory. Although he was impeccable, Fernando Alonso took advantage of the “mistakes” of the first two cars on the starting grid. At the start of the race, the double World Champion was able to overtake Felipe Massa, who got off to a sluggish start. And, fifteen laps from the finish, an exhaust failure on the RB6 of Sebastian Vettel allowed him to take control of the race, before winning.

« It's a very special day, not only because I'm back on top, but also because I'm achieving this performance with Ferrari, with all the history that this team has behind it., he comments. There is no better way to start our collaboration. »

« I'm on the best team in the world, continues the Spaniard. Doing this double is a great reward for our team. They did an incredible job during winter testing. This victory is deserved for everyone who worked day and night to give us a fantastic car »

For his part, Felipe Massa, even if he is ahead of his teammate, can only be pleased with this result, especially knowing where he comes from. “ It?s great to be there. Thank God I'm fine, and I also have to thank all the people who supported me. »

In his race, the Brazilian is satisfied, even if he would undoubtedly have liked to be ahead of his teammate. “ It was a weird race. I didn?t have a good start, I lost a position to Fernando but then it was perfect. When I changed tires I was so fast that I caught Fernando but I had to save fuel for the last 30 laps. In any case, it?s a great result for the team. And I'm delighted because it's my best start to the season. »

The final word goes to Luca di Montezemolo, happy to see the Prancing Horse return to the top of the bill, after a difficult 2009. “ I am happy but above all very proud of my men, who have accomplished an extraordinary job. This victory was the goal sought for months and guided our efforts. Ferrari is still Ferrari. I am also delighted for our drivers. Alonso starts with a victory and Massa is still going strong after his terrible accident last year. This double encourages us to look to the future by continuing our efforts. »
