Ferrari apologizes to Alonso

A complicated first half of the season despite a victory in Bahrain, then an exceptional second half saw him move up the rankings, Fernando Alonso showed up in Abu Dhabi as the big favorite. Alas, his team made a strategic error at the worst time. Within the Team, we are not looking for excuses. If the error comes from the team, Alonso has shown himself to be irreproachable. Stefano Domenicali therefore wanted to apologize to his driver while congratulating him for his magnificent season.

“I would like to thank Fernando once again for everything he did during his first season with us, concedes the team manager of the Italian team. We knew his talent but having him on our team allowed us to appreciate him for his human and leadership qualities. The pilot is just as extraordinary as the man. He has demonstrated leadership qualities both in and out of the car. I can understand what he went through, and I'm sorry for the mistake the team made. He believed in us until the end. We did not manage to win the title together, the title after which we chased until the last moments with great tenacity.

It is therefore without a crown that Scuderia Ferrari ends the 2010 season, and with the remorse of having made a mistake at the worst of times. It remains to be hoped that Maranello's future weapon proves to be as competitive as the RB7. The Ferrari-Alonso tandem has shown that it can be formidable, and will it be thirsty for revenge next year?
