Ferrari seeks appeal over Vettel penalty

Made a mistake on turns 3 and 4 yesterday on the 48th lap of the Canadian Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) had cut into the grass before returning to the track when Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) tried to take advantage of the German's deviation in trajectory.

 

 

A maneuver deemed illicit by the race stewards, who imposed a 5″ penalty on the four-time world champion, thus causing him to lose the race to the Briton. A sanction against which Scuderia Ferrari wishes to appeal, as indicated following the race.

“The stewards reviewed the video evidence and determined that the No. 5 car, after leaving the track at Turn 3, rejoined the track at Turn 4 in an unsafe manner and caused the No. 44 car to go off-track. path, clarified the FIA ​​decision. Car number 44 had to maneuver to avoid a collision.

Competitors are reminded of their right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA ​​Sporting Code and Article 9.1.1 of the FIA ​​Judicial and Disciplinary Regulations, within the prescribed time limits. . »

Ferrari therefore has 96 hours to either complete the appeal procedure or give up.
