Continue to develop the 2021 car or focus on 2022 and the new regulations? This is the question that all teams are asking themselves at the moment. On the Ferrari side, things are clear. There Team has just stopped the development of its car 2021, as announced by Laurent Mekies in France.

“For the development of our car, we have made our decision. Maximum focus on 2022. There will be no more major developments to improve the weaknesses of SF21. » explains the French engineer.

On pole in Monaco with Charles Leclerc and on the podium the next day with Carlos Sainz, the 2021 Ferrari version seems much more efficient than its predecessor.

“Certainly the car is the same as the previous races but it's still a good challenge to understand why have we improved in certain areas? says Laurant Mekies. We're pretty good at low speed corners so we'll see what happens this weekend. »

The first day at Paul Ricard was mixed for the reds. Out of the top 10 in FP1, the two drivers made up for it during FP2. Charles Leclerc set the 5th time when Sainz was in 8th place.
