Ferrari surprised by the gap with Mercedes

Si Lewis Hamilton has signed an eleventh pole position in 2015, shattering the Monza fans' dream of seeing an SF15-T in first position on the starting grid tomorrow in Italy, Kimi Räikkönen and Sebastian Vettel will have a good card to play in the race.

The Finn, author of a final lap which allowed him to beat his German teammate, did not hide that the result was a small surprise for the team. Maranello. « We're probably a little surprised. We expected a good weekend, but we knew that this track is not the best for us, but the car turned out to be excellent in the qualifying conditions.

We had a lot of good rounds. It’s nice to be there, especially at our home race. This is probably our best qualification of the year as a team. »

Sebastian Vettel joined his teammate in this analysis of the session, but regretted an error in his lap in Q3. “I’m not entirely happy with my lap with a mistake in Lesmo 1, but for the result it’s fantastic for the team.

This puts us in an excellent position for tomorrow: it's a bit of a surprise to be so close to Mercedes today, but we must wait and see tomorrow. We know they will be very strong in the race and they will be the ones to beat if we want to win, but maybe with all the power of the fans we can have a surprise. »
