Ferrari working on qualifying

In pure performance, the new single-seaters of the Team Ferrari showed themselves behind the McLaren MP4-26 and others Red Bull RB7. The Italian team left Melbourne disappointed, but with the firm intention of returning to the forefront very quickly. Since Melbourne, the transalpine engineers have been busy, working in particular on the performance of a lap of the 150th Italia.

“We spent time analyzing the data, and what stood out was that our pace in the race was clearly better than that in qualifying, explains Deputy Technical Director Pat Fry. The way the car uses the tires is one reason. The majority of our analysis therefore focused on performance over one lap, which we compared with performance over long runs in a race. We also looked at other important factors such as aerodynamics, to see where we could best exploit the car?s potential. There are already things we are considering changing or improving for Malaysia. They will be added to the aerodynamic developments planned for this event. We also have three or four parameters to test, and probably there will be even more new parts to test in the few days between the Malaysian and Chinese Grands Prix. This is a constant development throughout the season. »

We can bet that everyone will have worked hard in Maranello to forget the Australian poor performance and come and tease Red Bull and McLaren this weekend in Kuala Lumpur.
