Ferrari wants to rediscover the taste of pole position

The last pole position of Fernando Alonso et Ferrari date of the 2012 German Grand Prix, at Hockenheim. It was already last summer. Arrived in Bahrain with a smile afterwards the victory of its pilot in China last Sunday, Stefano Domenicali announced that he now wanted to see progress on Saturday. “It is clear that we are not at the level we should be in qualifying”, estimates the director of the Scuderia. “We understand that some of our rivals are really very, very strong (in this exercise, Editor’s note) and this is the objective that we must achieve very quickly in order to ensure that?we use our potential in racing in the best possible way.”

The lack of performance during the qualifying round is a real obsession at Ferrari, since Fernando Alonso lost big last season by starting far from the leaders and being more exposed to collisions, as happened to him during the Grand Prix of Belgium and Japan. By starting from the first grid, which the Asturian has not managed to do so far this season, the F1 benefit from a very advantageous clear runway. What Stefano Domenicali clearly aims for: “ If you start from the front, you can use your tires better”. Note that for seven Grand Prix, pole position has always been decided between Sebastian Vettel et Lewis Hamilton.
