Green light for Belgian GP behind closed doors

La Formula 1 received approval from the Belgian political authorities to go to Spa-Francorchamps in 2020. The National Security Council of Belgium, meeting on Wednesday May 13 in the company of deconfinement experts (scientists) made public two decisions this Friday May 15 May concerning the Ardennes circuit.

First of all, from May 18, the resumption of training for individual professional athletes is authorized on the Spa-Francorchamps route outdoors with 20 people on the slopes in groups under the supervision of a coach or supervisor.

But the most interesting information for the world of F1 is the confirmation of the held behind closed doors of the Belgian Grand Prix on the initial dates (August 28-30), according to information collected by our Belgian colleagues from RTBF.

A press release from the Minister-President of Wallonia, Elio Di Rupo, also recalls that the authorization of a Grand Prix, even without an audience, is not valid “only on the condition of strictly respecting the distancing measures between people and the hygiene and sanitary measures”.
