While we seemed to be heading towards an agreement after long weeks of discussions, the FIA and FOTA (the association of racing teams Formula 1) have still not managed to agree on the financial aspect of the 2010 regulations. At the end of a meeting held on Monday between financial experts from both sides, the FIA was keen to express itself on the subject immediately.
During this meeting, FOTA's financial experts presented their proposal but were not mandated to negotiate with the FIA with a view to finding common ground. The FIA has indicated that it does not accept FOTA's proposals because they do not sufficiently limit a team's expenses.
« In the absence of a constructive dialogue, the proposals of the financial experts of FOTA were mentioned but it is clear that these do not make it possible to limit the expenses of a team which has the resources to spend more. Financial regulation therefore remains unchanged ", Reads the statement.
Discussions should therefore continue soon with a view to obtaining an agreement which is slow to be signed.
