FIA: Todt succeeds Mosley

Jean Todt, who follows in the footsteps of Max Mosley, being dubbed by the latter, is the new president of the FIA. Strong man of the Team Ferrari for fifteen years, the Frenchman was elected at the FIA general assembly, clearly beating his opponent, Ari Vatanen. Todt would have won by 135 votes to 49.

After sixteen years of Max Mosley's reign at the head of the FIA, a page in the history of the governing body of motorsport is turning. After occupying management positions within Peugeot Sport (1982-1993) and Scuderia Ferrari (1993-2007), Jean Todt rose to the highest position in motorsport authorities.

While many are delighted with the arrival of a talented man at the head of the FIA, some also fear the continuity of the Mosley system, while the Frenchman wants to be part of a necessary change for motorsport.
