End of Rookie tests and Bridgestone

Daniel Ricciardo once again shone in the Rookie test session. The Australian sets a best time in 1:38??102 and is seven tenths ahead of the second time achieved by Jérôme d?Ambrosio (1:38??702). The top five is completed by Sam Bird (Mercedes, 1?39??220), Gary Paffett (1?39??760) and Jules Bianchi (Ferrari, 1?39??916).

Although grip has continued to improve since the GP, the Australian?s performance was impressive in his second practice session with a F1. " Last year's tests at Jerez went well », remembers the vice-champion of Formula Renault 3.5 Series. “ Thanks to this experience, I felt more relaxed. I am really satisfied with my times but I am even happier with the work accomplished with the team. I feel ready for F1. It will be difficult for 2011, but I will seize the slightest opportunity that presents itself. »

This day also marks the end of Bridgestone's presence in F1. The Japanese manufacturer, which has not missed a race since the Australian GP in 1997, is now bowing out to make way for its Italian competitor Pirelli. Testing will resume on Friday with the drivers in practice next season, who will test the new Italian tires for the first time.
