Force India confirms Sergio Pérez extension

On the sidelines of the Malaysian Grand Prix, Sergio Pérez announced that the latest details concerning his extension at Force India next year, were about to be completed. Earlier in October, Force India sporting director Omar Szafnauer had already indicated that the former driver McLaren would sport in Force India colors in 2017.

The Mexican was one of the drivers who could potentially move the cards on the transfer market, but this official confirmation puts an end to speculation.

“I am happy to confirm that I will race with Force India in 2017. The team and my sponsors have concluded their agreements. I am very happy with this team and I have a good feeling for the future.

I have seen the progress we have made over the past two years and I am sure we have the potential to go higher in the future. The team knows me well and it is important to have stability, especially with the rule changes planned for next year. I look forward to the rest of this season and the challenge that awaits us all in 2017.” specifies the press release published this Sunday evening.
