Force India in financial difficulty

While Force India was transparent at the Australian GP last Sunday in seeing its two VJM11s finish outside the points, Vijay Mallya's team must focus on another issue determining its future.

Bob Fernley, vice-president of the team, told Auto Bild that the Indian team was in financial difficulty. The problem is important enough that a solution must be decisive in the coming weeks.

“Our survival will depend on the next four weeks. I will have to find significant funds in a short period of time", he explained.

Force India's situation is all the more complicated as it was not able to benefit from an advance in revenue unlike other years. This privilege could not be granted according to Bob Fernley due to the veto of Williams, while the teams must be unanimous.

Force India could have had new money if it had been able to change its name, but it will now have to wait until the next off-season as we explain to you in issue 2158 of AUTOhebdo. The Indian team could also be impacted by legal proceedings initiated against its owner.
