Indeed, the FIA having considered the Brawn Grand Prix team, ex-Honda F1, as a new entrant and not as an old team simply renamed, it had therefore allocated the numbers 18 and 19 to the Force India drivers and the numbers 20 and 21 to the drivers of Ross Brawn's team.
But the Indian team led by Vijay Mallya wanted to keep its old entry numbers, claiming to have carried out all its advertising communication with numbers 20 and 21.
The International Federation approved this request and modified the number assigned to Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello, who will have 22 and 23 respectively. The English can only rejoice, in fact, Lewis Hamilton won the world title last year, wearing the number 22 on his car.
