Force India will remain powered by Mercedes

Mercedes won the contract to continue to power Force India for the next seasons of F1. The announcement made by the Indian team does not surprise following the failure of negotiations with Maranello who wanted to power more teams for the entry into force of the 6l turbo hybrid V1.6 by inserting Jules Bianchi into the Indian team. The choice of Adrian Sutil suggested that Vijay Mallya's team would stay with the star manufacturer for the coming years.

“Our new agreement with Mercedes-Benz for the coming years and the most important in the history of Force India”, comments Vijay Mallya who takes the opportunity to show with a new strong argument that his team is not economically in danger. “With the new power units being introduced next year, I don’t think there is a better partner to work with as F1 enters an exciting new era. This agreement gives us the long-term stability we were looking for. »

Toto wolff, the shareholder and new executive director of Mercedes AMG F1 replacing Nick Fry, is also delighted with the renewal of this partnership. “It is a significant step to announce our first long-term contract as an engine supplier with the settlement of the 2014 season. Sahara Force India was our first customer team in 2009 and we are delighted to enter into a long and extended with them beyond 2014. This long-term contract offers excellent value in terms of balance between price and performance. We hope this means that Mercedes-Benz and Sahara Force India will work together for the life of this new generation of engines. »
