Force India wants to bounce back from Suzuka

The improvement of the Force India team after the Belgian and Italian Grand Prix seems to have come to a halt in Singapore where the 14th round of the season took place last Sunday. Unable to make it through Q2 on Saturday, Vitantonio Liuzzi and Adrian Sutil then suffered during the Sunday race.

« After the results obtained at Spa and Monza, we had set ourselves high objectives but we also knew that it would be more difficult on this track », concedes Vijay Mallya, the team director. “ However, do we know the reasons? Singapore has a track that requires particularly high aerodynamic downforce and we had difficulty finding the right configuration. »

A few days before the start of the first tests for the Japanese GP at Suzuka, Mallya is not taking offense at this poor performance and prefers to move forward. “ Suzuka is a circuit that requires less downforce which should suit our car more », he adds. Words that Adrian Sutil confirms. “ It is a route where driving plays a big role. As we have already seen, we perform well on circuits that require medium or low downforce; Suzuka should then suit us », declares the German.

Force India is currently ninth in the Manufacturers' standings with 13 points, eight points behind the BMW team ahead of it.
