Franco Colapinto can breathe easy, he will indeed compete in the Grand Prix of Las Vegas. As a reminder, his participation was uncertain after the qualifications during which the Argentinian was at fault, taking a 50G shock according to information revealed by Williams while spraying his FW46.
The English team later announced that Franco Colapinto's health would be reassessed by the medical teams to determine whether he was fit to race this Saturday evening (Sunday 7:00 in France) or not. After this new visit to the medical center, the Williams driver received the go-ahead from the staff to participate in the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
« Following yesterday's incident during qualifying, Franco has been thoroughly assessed by the medical team and has been cleared to compete in the Las Vegas Grand Prix., announcement Williams. Franco’s health is our top priority, and we are relieved that he is fit enough to race after such a major accident. We thank the medical staff for prioritizing Franco’s health and well-being and for the excellent care he received. »
In addition, the Grove team wanted to thank its mechanics who managed to repair the car. However, Franco Colapinto will not be able to start in 14th place on the grid. Indeed, Williams made some set-up changes that violated Parc Fermé. As a result, its driver will start from the pit lane.
