Fry and Ferrari: “Everything remains possible”

The technical director of Ferrari, Pat Fry, positive the day after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. “It was a difficult and intense weekend but coming out of it improving our situation in both championships is undoubtedly positive. »

By finishing on the second step of the podium, Fernando Alonso took back three precious points from Sebastian Vettel in the race for the Drivers’ title. The Asturian is now ten points behind the reigning double world champion, who finished third after a fantastic comeback in the race. Among the Manufacturers, it would take a miracle for the Scuderia to win a 17th title, Red Bull being only four points away from a third consecutive coronation.

But the result in Abu Dhabi above all allows the Italians to widen the gap a little with McLaren in the fight for second place, 340 points against 318. Enough to make Pat Fry and his team smile “Once again, Fernando delivered an incredible performance, giving his all both in qualifying and in the race”, explains the Briton. “With our strategies it was not easy to gain places, but this Sunday like 8 days ago in India he showed what he was capable of. His two second places are worth more than the 36 points he obtained. » The technical director also had a word for Felipe Massa, who had a more complicated race. ?Felipe lost time due to a spin and ended up in traffic. But his six points are precious for the team. »

However, there is no question of resting: the ten days remaining before the American Grand Prix, on the brand new Austin track in Texas, will be crucial. “This track will be new for everyone, the team that is quickest to adapt its car could have an advantage,” specifies Pat Fry. None of us wants to give up, everything is possible. »
