Fry: Schumi, a good thing for F1

If the speculation of the arrival of Michael Schumacher in Mercedes GP is kept alive by the declarations of everyone, the words of Nick Fry have revived interest around the seven-time world champion. Managing Director of Mercedes GP, Ross Brawn's friend is convinced that Schumi's return would do the company's business F1. Words which are not trivial for someone who is directly concerned by this return, since Michael Schumacher is announced as a possible reinforcement at Mercedes.

« I think, whether it's Michael or another former world champion, it adds extra interest ", Nick Fry told Reuters at the Motorsport Business Forum in Monaco. However, the CEO of the Brackley team refuses to admit that negotiations are underway with the German driver, without however categorically denying it. “ We are discussing certain things with a number of drivers. »

For Fry, Schumi?s age is not an obstacle to his return to competition. “ Can a 40 or 41 year old athlete fight against a 24 year old? In other sports, some have proven that they are capable, even at this age. » Nico Rosberg, 24, would be Michael Schumacher's teammate if he joined Mercedes GP. The young German has recently been enthusiastic about the return of the Red Baron, even at his side (see elsewhere).

In recent weeks, Mercedes GP management has cast doubt on the identity of its second driver. Norberg Haug, boss of Mercedes Motorsport, and, now, Nick Fry, do not want to firmly deny the arrival of Schumi in the Brackley team. But, among the pilot?s entourage, this transfer of the year seems more than hypothetical. Between true-false answers and bluffing, the F1 game can still hold a few surprises.
