A big first for Gabriel Bortoleto. The Brazilian discovered the Suzuka circuit this Friday during the two Free Practice sessions organized this Friday. 20th and last in Free Practice 1 in 1:30.147 (26 laps covered), the Brazilian set the 13th fastest time (1:29.335) in a second session interrupted by four red flags (13 laps).
« Today was a positive first day on track; I was really looking forward to riding at Suzuka and I enjoyed every second of it., Bortoleto rejoiced. This is probably the most beautiful circuit I've ever seen. The first free practice session went well and allowed us to stick to our plan. The second session, on the other hand, was quite eventful, with several red flags. We didn't manage to complete our program for the session, but I doubt anyone else did. Nevertheless, we will work on today's lessons and try to extract as much data as possible for tomorrow. »
His teammate Nico Hulkenberg judge that " Friday went well ": " FP2 was obviously very limited: we didn't complete as many laps as planned because of the four red flags. It's the same for everyone: we therefore have limited data and information, but the car was handling well, a little better than in FP1. Obviously, it was difficult to get a good read and understand everyone's performance this afternoon. We're analyzing everything now to optimize the set-up for tomorrow. »
Join us at 4:30 a.m. this Friday for Free Practice 3 of the Japanese Grand Prix.
