Gary Paffett leaves McLaren

The 33-year-old Briton Gary Paffett will leave the McLaren team at the end of the season, after eight years of good and loyal service.

Gary Paffett leaves McLaren

Badged driver Mercedes after his first years DTM, the Briton Gary Paffett was offered the opportunity to work with the team in 2006. McLaren, as a test pilot then reserve. After eight years of collaboration, the story will end between the 33-year-old driver and the Woking team at the end of the season, before the arrival of the Honda engine in 2015.

“I loved working for McLaren and I hope my feedback over the years has been useful. I have many friends among the staff and I wish them all the best for the future. Fingers crossed for a win or two next year. » said Paffett who will focus on the DTM with Mercedes in 2015.

This separation could benefit several drivers who are members of Ron Dennis' team's young driver program. We obviously think of Stoffel Vandoorne, but also of Nyck De Vries, recent Eurocup FR 2.0 champion, who could be granted more driving time in the future.
