Gasly frustrated but philosophical after losing half a morning

The technical regulations may well be very stable this season in Formula 1, the reduction in the number of days in winter testing from 8 to 6 made any unfortunate setbacks. 

After an ideal first week in terms of reliability, Alpha Tauri had a more complicated start to the second week since Pierre Gasly lost nearly 2 hours due to a poor pipe connection on his car. 

The problem was not major, nor related to the powertrain, but its location in a difficult to access location made the repair time-consuming. Result: the Norman was only able to cover 25 laps of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

« This is the first real problem we encountered this winter, Gasly philosophized during the lunch break. We wanted to do more laps. It’s not an ideal situation because we lost a lot of track time. These kinds of things happen. We tried to make up for lost time as best as possible at the end of the morning with an intense program. 

We only have 3 days of testing left this year so it goes by very quickly. There is very little time to find out everything about a car. We were still exploring new things this morning. From tomorrow, we will try to find something that suits us more or less before arriving in Australia ». 

Gasly, author of the 2nd fastest time on Wednesday morning, specifies that he will go a little further on the hunt for the time for his last outing at the wheel of the AlphaTauri before Melbourne.  

« Before the last days, everyone hides a little but in the end we try to see what the car has in its stomach », concluded the Frenchman, who will take the wheel of the AT01 again on Thursday. His teammate Daniil Kvyat took over on the track this Wednesday afternoon.
