Gasly: “I feel a bit of a passenger in Red Bull”

Pierre Gasly had another difficult weekend at the Bahrain GP. Qualified only 13th, the driver Red Bull painfully climbed to 8th place while his teammate Max Verstappen was in contention for the podium before the entry of the safety car following the double retirement of the Renault.

“There are positives, but it was still a complicated weekend because I don’t feel comfortable in the car, recognized the 2016 GP2 Series champion. I was already in difficulty during qualifying and it continued in the race. In particular, I struggle to keep control of the rear axle. I will have to adapt to the Red Bull compared to the Toro Rosso from last year which better suited my riding. We will also have to optimize the settings so that this car becomes mine because I feel like a bit of a passenger at the moment. »

Pierre Gasly hopes to find the right recipe to be at the level required by a top team and will be able to take advantage of the tests held on the Sakhir circuit to train for the Chinese GP held on April 12 in Shanghai.

“It’s hard to attack when you don’t get what you want. I was nevertheless performing well on the last stint and I think I had the potential to get 6th place. It's not the start to the season that I was hoping for, but these are the moments that allow you to toughen up. The potential is there, you just have to find it”, added the Frenchman.
