Gasly has not yet discussed his future in the Red Bull fold

Since Sunday, his status has changed. Congratulations poured in from all over the world and from all four corners of the paddock. Among these expressions of sympathy, there was this voice message from the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron. Pierre Gasly tried to call back the head of state, without success for the moment.

« He is one of the busiest men in the world », smiled the first French winner in 1 years since Mugello where we must already immerse ourselves in a weekend of competition.

Monday, the 109th driver to win in F1 also received a phone call from Sebastian Vettel, elder of the house Red Bull and the only driver before Gasly to have won a race with the Taureau Rouge junior team.

« As Seb pointed out to me, we are the only two to have won with this team, told the Norman in Tuscany. He won in 2008 before winning 4 titles with Red Bull later in his career. I am very happy to have joined him in this club of winners of Faenza ».

Logic would dictate that Gasly would be promoted to the parent team Red Bull Racing but we know how his first experience with the flagship went last year, with a demotion to Toro Rosso after only 12 short races.

Asked if he felt ready to return to Milton Keynes (United Kingdom), Gasly was cautious in his response.

« I am a born competitor and as I said before, every driver wants to be in the fastest car to fight at the front., declared the Frenchman.

Even though I feel like we are playing at a high level at the moment with AlphaTauri, my personal goal remains to fight for podiums more often, victory and the title if possible.”

Gasly clarified that he had not had the opportunity to discuss his future with Helmut Marko, head of the Red Bull young driver sector, nor Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing team principal.

« Both congratulated me at Monza and they were very happy with my victory, added the new tricolor hero. I don't know what might change in the future, I haven't discussed this with them yet ».

His current boss, Franz Tost, has already made it known that he would like to keep Gasly in 2021. This is easy to understand.
