The 2025 season is only just beginning. However, Pierre Gasly is already looking towards 2026. Following the Chinese Grand Prix, the French driver stated his ambitions for next season, with his ultimate goal in sight. I am very interested in 2026. I could become world champion. » launched the Frenchman in comments relayed by RacingNews365.

As for 2025, Alpine did not work towards the feat during the winter and the blue and pink single-seaters are not yet capable of regularly competing on the podium. These results correspond to expectations. In 2024, Flavio Briatore, the executive advisor ofAlpine, had explained that the last season of the current regulations would be tricky. This year there are too many handicaps, but we are remodeling the whole team." declared the sulphurous Italian on the radio microphone Rai.

This delicacy, She was noticed during the first two rounds of the season for the team At the bottom of the Constructors' Championship with zero points scored, this difficult start hardly cheers up Pierre Gasly, who is already looking ahead to next season.

2025: A year of transition

« I am fully dedicated and focused on 2025 but as a team we know what to expect this year, admits the Norman who correlates with the speeches coming fromenstone : this exercise is a year of transition. We know what is planned for 2026, our strategy is already in place. As I mentioned at the launch of the F1 In London, if it were up to me, I would devote all my time and money to next year."

There's no need to hope for a return to the front this year; that's not the French team's goal, and only a scenario similar to last year's Brazilian Grand Prix will be necessary for any success. Pierre Gasly, lucidly admits it, openly admits that this year's results are of little importance. Whether I finish eighth, ninth, sixth or seventh, it doesn't matter. What's really important is to be able to fight for victory and podiums next year." This speech focused on 2026 is not specific to the French driver since Flavio Briatore has been hammering it home since his return to the team in 2024: " JI guarantee you: in two seasons, we will be talking about podiums.

So, Alpine Gasly is focusing on 2026, and he believes he could even fight for the championship. How can such ambitions be justified?

2026: Objective: the outposts

2026 will be a revolution for the premier class of motorsport with new aero regulations and new engine regulations. The Enstone team hopes to take advantage of these numerous changes to return to the front of the pack. In the midst of restructuring since the return of Flavio Briatore, the French team has been shaken up by a change of strategy: from 2026, Alpine will no longer be an engine manufacturer but a customer of powertrains Mercedes.

Will this lead to a fruitful collaboration? We'll have to wait and see, but paddock rumors suggest the German firm is ahead of its rivals in designing the future engine. Moreover, given the discussions concerning a possible return of V10s to Formula 1, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolf tempers: " We should be looking forward to the regulations coming next year and all that they will bring rather than looking too far ahead." declares the Austrian. Admission of the star firm's advance?

One thing is set in stone: the teams are already working intensively on the 2026 single-seaters. Without excessive ambitions for the current season, Alpine focuses on what comes next, which will hopefully be blessed with bluer skies.

It feels like we've gone back to the Ligier era with its famous transition years. 2025 doesn't look much better than 2024, unfortunately for him, and 2026 could be the year of the lottery if a team and/or an engine manufacturer wins the winning streak. And we can have doubts for Alpine between new chassis (24 and 25 are great successes ... thanks Enstone!) and new PU. Curious to know how much this will "amuse" Luca De Meo

Gasly is sabotaging his career. He won't do anything remarkable in 2025 given the wheelbarrow he's driving, and 2026 will see a new engine that will take time to adapt to its chassis. Ocon was right to get out of this mess. Briatore is a gangster.
