Gene Haas highlights interactions between F1 and Nascar

2018 will mark the third season for the team Haas F1 Team at the highest level of events car internationally. A diversification of the racing activity of the Kannapolis (North Carolina) entity, engaged for many years in Nascar via association with Tony Stewart.

If the two disciplines differ widely, Gene Haas, head of the American structure, highlights the possible interactions between the two series. “There's a lot of similar technology and I've even had a lot of people on the Formula 1 side wanting to know how the Nascar staff are progressing, so there's a lot of interest.

You have two sports that are at the top of their fields – stock car versus single-seater – but there seems to be a lot of interest in how each of these entities has evolved over the years and what can be gleaned from the two series. »

F1 at the center of attention

With a more than recognized Nascar track record (two Drivers' titles in 2011 and 2014 for Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick, 39 victories in the Cup Series), Gene Haas acknowledges allowing his structure intended for oval events to evolve without much personal intervention.

“The Nascar side works pretty well without me, admits the American. These guys know what they're doing and have been doing it for a long time. We won a few championships, so I have a lot of confidence in them.

We are still learning on the Formula 1 side. We don't want to be in the middle of the pack forever. We want to get to the top of the middle of the pack. This is our goal. »
