While his teammate Kimi Antonelli made the most of his Mercedes Benz George Russell, for his part, missed out on a third consecutive victory, finishing just off the podium in fourth place. This frustrating weekend leaves the number 63 driver twenty points behind his teammate, the championship leader.

« It's an unusual place and it was an unusual weekend; I'm glad it's over. George Russell breathes at the F1. I'm looking forward to getting back on more traditional tracks and seeing how it goes there. This is definitely a weekend that stands out for me. »

However, Russell shouldn't be written off too quickly, as the British driver has had some bad luck recently. An electrical problem hampered him in China, while in Japan, the safety car intervention worked in Antonelli's favor.

« [The momentum after the victory in Australia] was a little frustrating, but over the course of a season, that's always going to be the case at certain times. That's why I'm still standing here with my head held high because in Melbourne I got pole position, I wonRussell reminds us. In China I won the Sprint; I had the pace to take pole. In Japan, there was also the potential to win without the safety car intervention. Because of a few details, I could have been here saying that Miami was truly an exception and my first bad weekend of the season. Unfortunately, that's not the case, but that's how it is, and it can change."

But for the first time this season, Mercedes' dominance seemed to falter around Hard Rock Stadium. However, the Brackley-based team doesn't intend to stop there. For the Canadian Grand Prix, scheduled for May 22-24, the Silver Arrows will introduce new upgrades, refined through several additional weeks of work at the factory.

In the Mercedes garage, one thing is certain: Antonelli will show no mercy to his senior colleague this season. While fierce internal competition can be a driving force, it also represents a risk of friction on the track. On this point, Toto wolff He was adamant. No internal rivalry will be tolerated, so there's no question of Russell and Antonelli fighting amongst themselves.

I forgot to mention that considering what Kimi does on a crappy track like Las Vegas, and what he did in Japan on a really good track, Georges must be worried sick :)

Georges should have "screwed" Hamilton during his bad years! He would have had his chances, now it's too late, so his role must be to protect Kimi and score points for the constructors' title!

Yes, and he's resorting to self-suggestion to reassure himself ("I won there," "I could have won here"...). Meanwhile, Antonelli wins without needing "ifs." The seasons are very long now, and we saw last year that endurance is crucial. He has what it takes.

The pressure is already starting to be felt - a little - on the shoulders of the paddock's Ideal Son-in-Law, and the rising Italian star will clearly not give him any favors!
