Gilles Simon joins the PURE project

Gilles Simon announced that he was joining the PURE project set up by Craig Pollock, former director of BAR Honda and Christian Contzen, former general director of Renault Sport. The Frenchman knew Jean Todt when he held the position of chief engine engineer within the Team (from 1994 to 2009). He then joined the FIA in 2010 to work to make the premier discipline of motorsport more ecological.

The Frenchman therefore joins the French engine manufacturer to occupy the position of technical director. “The new regulations will be the most significant change in F1 for a generation », recognizes Gilles Simon. “The opportunity to develop the PURE engine block is a formidable challenge and it allows me to return to my first passion: designing engines. Making F1 greener is my personal goal. »

Jean Todt, who has known Gilles Simon since they worked together at Peugeot , is also delighted to see his compatriot pursue his goals with PURE. “Gilles is leaving the FIA and I thank him. We worked together on several projects for several years at Peugeot, at Ferrari and within the FIA. I know how much he devotes his life to designing engines. I wish him the best possible success for his future. »
