Glock: deadlock on Japan

Timo Glock will have had a very special weekend at Suzuka, a weekend that he can remember nothing about. Suffering in the middle of the week, the German driver had to leave his seat Kamui Kobayashi. The Japanese was then able to ride in front of his audience, under downpours of water.

The Cologne team tried to replace him with Kamui Kobayashi but FIA regulations are strict. A driver who has not ridden in one of the Saturday sessions cannot take part in the race. Despite Toyota's request, which underlined the exceptional nature of the situation, Kamui Kobayashi was not authorized to take over from the German driver.

« Today with my physio, I tried everything to be operational for the Japanese Grand Prix but, in the end, it is not possible for me to race, said Timo Glock. It's a shame to miss the Toyota national race and I'm sorry. I would like to thank the entire team who worked all night to repair the damage so that the car is ready for the race. They did an excellent job but unfortunately I can't run. I'm sure I'll be back in Brazil. »
