French GP: Pécresse anti-Flins

Does the Flins project still have its chances? The more time passes, the more numerous there are opponents of the construction of the Flins circuit. Considered by many observers as the best project to bring back the Formula 1 in France, the future (or future ex?) Yvelines circuit is highly criticized by environmental movements. Furthermore, this project does not enjoy much popularity among motorsport enthusiasts, Magny-Cours, Paul-Ricard and even the Sarcelles project being preferred.

This Friday, it was Valérie Pécresse who showed her opposition to the construction of the Flins circuit. Candidate for the presidency of the Ile de France region, the Minister of Higher Education showed solidarity with the green movements, a few months before the regional elections. “ I do not wish to support a project that goes against the Grenelle Environment Forum », declared Valérie Pécresse.

While Alain Schmitz, new president of the General Council of Yvelines, had assured that he had the support of the government, via François Fillon, opposition to the construction of the Flins circuit is increasing. Jean-Louis Borloo, Minister of the Environment and Chantal Jouanno, Secretary of State, had already expressed their opposition to this project.
