The French Grand Prix file finds itself caught up in the tumult of the presidential elections. While the test seemed to be on the verge of being finalized, François Hollande had stressed in the Team that the project had to be re-examined. Nicolas Sarkozy responded today in the French daily by maintaining his support for the return of the discipline to France.
“Re-examine the files, make a commission and reflect, this is not a project”, retorted the UMP candidate in L’Equipe. “Five years goes by quickly, it’s better to be ready before then. Mr. Hollande is unaware that a Grand Prix brings in money, like all major sporting events. You should not have a narrow vision. We are a country that has two global car manufacturers, Renault and PSA, and now three promising young French drivers in F1. We have to have a Grand Prix. »
