Japanese GP: Button does not give up victory

Jenson Button failed to keep pace with the drivers Red Bull, failing four tenths from pole Sebastian Vettel. The 2009 world champion knew he had to put in a strong performance at Suzuka as he will be dropped five places on the starting grid for a gearbox change. The Briton managed to climb to third place, synonymous with eighth position tomorrow between Kimi Räikkönen and Lewis Hamilton.

If the pilot McLaren has abandoned his hopes of a title, he still hopes to be able to shine on a circuit that he particularly likes. “It was a good qualifying session, my laps in Q3 were all very good”, comments the last winner of the Japanese GP. “We have improved a lot since the day before by trying a set-up with low downforce to facilitate overtaking maneuvers and I felt much more comfortable behind the wheel today. My penalty means my position on the grid is disappointing. Overtaking has never been easy here and it was surprising to learn that the DRS zone was going to be reduced this year. Still, I love riding here and the strategies could come into play during the race. With tire wear, things remain difficult to predict. The Championship is complicated for me now, I know, but I would like to shine in front of the Japanese crowd. I will start tomorrow aiming for victory. »
