As F1 resumes its season in Miami, Mercedes Benz ceded its place at the front. If the Silver Arrows had locked out the top two positions in every qualifying session held since the start of the 2026 season Formula 1, Lando Norris invited himself to play the party pooper.

At the wheel of a McLaren Having undergone a thorough overhaul during the spring break, the reigning world champion secured pole position for the start of the sprint race scheduled for 18:00 PM (Paris time) at the Miami International Autodrome.

He thus finished ahead of the championship leader, Kimi Antonelli, who came in second, and his teammate Oscar piastriThird. While his garage neighbor managed to slot in between the papaya drivers, George Russell seemed to be struggling more, hampered by a car Understeering. Car number 63 will therefore start from sixth position.

Norris will therefore start from pole position on a track where he secured his first victory of 2024 on Sunday. He also clinched the Sprint win last season. They will indeed be starting from further back for Saturday's race, even though Charles Leclerc seemed to be the perfect candidate for pole position. But Frédéric Vasseur's men are still lurking, at the wheel of a very sharp SF-26 at the start.

Finally, the Formula 2 Nikola Tsolov will compete in a sprint race, scheduled two hours before the premier class. This first transatlantic race was imposed by the unexpected calendar change.
