For the fifth round of the 2022 championship, the teams will head to Florida and its urban circuit. This new route will accommodate for the first time in its history, the Formula 1 as well as the opening round of the W Series. With these 19 turns, its 5,41 kilometer layout and its three potential DRS zones, the circuit has been designed around Hard Rock Stadium, the home of the Miami Dolphins and promises like any good event organized at Uncle Sam's. , an American-style show. As is already the case for the other American Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. 

The deadline is approaching for the drivers and before the Grand Prix weekend at Imola, few of them have been able to discover the new American track, like Sergio Pérez. On April 19, the Mexican driver was able to try the American track at the wheel of the RB7. “ I think it's a good circuit, there are some somewhat tricky areas which are complicated to navigate well and visibility can be difficult too, said Sergio Pérez. I think the race is going to be good with these long straights, I just hope the asphalt is level »  

The rest of the grid has not yet been able to test the Florida track, but some have taken the lead with simulator sessions. Like Pierre Gasly, who is already won over by this new round of the championship: “ I tried it and I have to admit it looks pretty awesome. I really like this circuit with quite a bit of challenge with new types of turns, extremely long turns and very long straights. » Yuki tsunoda he also seems impatient to discover this new route. “ It's very tricky, especially in the third sector with such tight bends. If there's a safety car, I think there's going to be a lot of traffic because it's really, really tight. I hope overtaking will be key on this track », Explains the Japanese pilot. 

The Miami Grand Prix is ​​well maintained

On the side ofAlfa Romeo, Valtteri Bottas he also focuses on overtaking. “ I had a good session on the simulator and it's nice to see that the circuit seems to be well suited to overtaking. This should be a good race with some very long straights and some very good opportunities. Now we have to see how it looks in real life but on paper it looks good. » Despite the appeal of certain residents for “noise nuisance”, the Miami Grand Prix will take place.
